Month-by-month: price, weather, crowds

Vegas has two seasons that matter — price seasons and weather seasons — and they don't line up the way you'd expect. Here's the honest month-by-month picture:

Updated September 2026. Weather = typical daytime highs. Price levels reflect our partner rate patterns and LVCVA visitation seasonality; event weeks within a month can override the whole month's pricing.

Sources: NWS climate normals for Harry Reid International Airport; LVCVA monthly visitation statistics (2024) — visitation peaks around March and October, often 3.5–4 million visitors in a single month, and those are the months prices firm up.

What flights look like right now

Hotel seasons tell half the story — the flight calendar fills in the other half. This grid is pulled from live partner fare data and shows the cheapest upcoming one-way dates to LAS across the three New York–area airports (EWR, JFK, LGA) — the corridor this site covers. Gold cells are the three cheapest dates we found:

Cheapest upcoming dates: New York → Las Vegas

Indicative one-way fares from our partner data, refreshed a few times a day. Each date shows the cheapest fare across EWR · JFK · LGA — the airport code tells you which one wins. Gold cells are the 3 cheapest dates we found. The partner always sets the final price.

The cheapest windows, in practice

  • Mid-January (after CES). The convention leaves and takes the demand with it — consistently the year's best hotel-plus-flight math.
  • Late July through August. Heat keeps crowds thin and pools full; midweek rates drop to near-January levels.
  • Early December. Pre-holiday quiet on the Strip — just stay clear of NYE week, which is its own economy.
  • Any Sunday–Wednesday. Not a season, a law: midweek nights undercut weekends across all twelve months.

How we'd pick, honestly

If weather rules: April or October — you'll pay for it and most people find it fair. If value rules: midweek in January or August, and spend what you saved on one great dinner. If it's your first visit: avoid F1 week and Super Bowl weekend, pick any other month, and let the budget tiers decide the room. Vegas rewards the second-look: compare the total price across two partners before you book and you're already ahead of most of the 41.7 million visitors a year the LVCVA counts.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest month to fly to Las Vegas?

January is typically the cheapest month for flights to LAS (after CES week inflates the first days of the month), with late July and August close behind thanks to heat-season demand dips. Midweek departures beat weekend departures in every month.

What's the worst time to visit Las Vegas?

For value: F1 race week in November and the biggest convention stretches — room rates can run three or more times normal and even airport rideshare pricing surges. For comfort: July–August afternoons regularly top 105°F (40°C).

Is summer in Las Vegas bearable?

It's a dry heat, and the city is built for it — pools, indoor everything, and the lowest hotel prices of the year. Plan outdoors (Red Rock, the Strip on foot) for before 10am, treat midday as indoor time, and summer becomes the budget traveler's season.

When does pool season start and end in Vegas?

Most Strip pools open in March and run through October, with the busiest weeks from late April to Labor Day. Dayclub season peaks May–August. If a pool matters, check your specific resort's dates — openings vary by property.

How far in advance should I book a Vegas trip?

For hotels, 2–6 weeks out is the typical sweet spot outside event weeks; for domestic flights to LAS, 1–3 months. During F1 week, major holidays and March Madness, book as early as your plans are firm — those dates only go up.
